Foredom quick release hand piece

I have snapped a burr shank in my Foredom quick release hand piece flush with the collet . Any ideas how to get it out PLEASE!!

I don't have one, but looking at the instructions:

It might be possible to remove the nose cone, release the lever, and work the shank out with a craft blade inserted into one on the slots. You could also try a magnet.

Failing that, you could contact a repairer, such as Milnes Bros:https://www.google.com/search?client...lnes+brothers+.

I don’t have one either but with any chuck I would have thought why can’t you open the chuck to remove the broken drill bit or am I missing something?

Unfortunately the problem is that with the quick release handpiece there is just a lever to open the chuck. This is not working and I can’t get hold of the broken burr shaft with pliers which has snapped level with the chuck. If I could open the handpiece I might be able push the burr shaft out, but that’s beyond me!

I would try emailing the company. I believe they are very helpful. I only have a Foredom micromotor so quite different. You’d think there must be an emergency release somewhere that you aren’t aware of.
I did a search and apparently there is a screw to adjust the lever if the collet needs tightened. I’m guessing that this also works in reverse if it needs loosened ? If that fails then the advice was contact Foredom .
Also there were quite a few historic questions on here as far back as 2010 so it might be worth putting Foredom quick release handpick into the search

Ultimately if expense is involved, you will need to decide whether to pay out, or ditch your flexshaft, and spend less than the repair money on a more modern and compact micromotor

They are all made in the Far East, and the chances of the guarantee being meaningful are low. But no one has complained here that they were sold a bad one. Just be sure that you choose one with a 2.3mm collet, as the collet generally can't be changed. Dennis.

Thank you for the advice, I took the handpiece apart to see if I could push the broken burr out but that was a disaster so I ended up buying a new handpiece, the basic H30 and am finding it much more useful than the quick release as I can use different diameter shanks so rather an expensive solution but practical!!
