Thanks.
I think I will register a hallmark with the assay office after Christmas. Been pondering the idea, but do you not have to submit your work without the stones in for marking?

Well done with your first cab setting. Nice markings on the turquoise.
Tis Finished. I called it "The Psychonaut".

When I was trying to source a large moonstone I rang my supplier and asked for a 22mm moonstone. They told me a large clear moonstone would be 100's of pounds, but they had some with inclusions for...
Loads of bullets here
Thanks Jason. I am pleased with it. I took plenty of time over preparing the setting before putting the stone in. I filed and sanded it down and even polished it a bit before setting the stone. Its...
That is a mammoth 22mm moonstone. It was much easier to set than all the small stones I've set. A breeze in fact.
Here is the next installment. This bit took ages, filing the shapes so they would fit together when soldered. Its still rough and needs loads of shaping and polishing yet. This gives you an the idea...
It isn't mine. Its just something I was inspired by.
Thats why I didn't make the inner bit of the lid a full tube. You can then bend/shape the metal to suit. I will probably not polish the inners to much anyway.
It is huge. Its not for everyone. Its more of an art piece than an everyday wear piece.
Check out where I got the idea from:

More on the lines of: Chaos magic - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
I wanted to put a screw thread on it but it was too difficult for me. I thought about a catch but it would be in the way, because the outer ring freely spins around the inner shaft. So I have opted...
It would seem everyone was a little tired and upset last night when I was tucked up in bed. It all kicked off. And here was me thinking everyone on here was nice and polite. Fighting on my post? Make...
I can confirm that I used pins to hold the piece in place on the soldering block and that I soldered all of the 8 settings in one go with hard solder. I was careful to heat the whole piece evenly and...
A couple more hours work done on the chaos ring. The top fits very snugly into the compartment. The chaos star spins freely around the shaft.

It will contain what ever you want it to Jason. I always liked the concept of the poison ring and I thought it would be good to include that in this ring.
This is the piece I was looking to add a lid to using a screw thread, but it might be too difficult to do.
The tubes are the length I intended. It is an eight pointed chaos star.
Thats a good idea for future though if I need shorter tube settings. Thanks.
The finished piece is a ring to go on the finger, but the ring in the picture goes around the shaft as shown in the picture also. The whole thing will be mounted onto a thick silver band, which will...
Its been challenging so far, but with some handy tips from other forum members I have reached this stage in the design.
I will indeed keep the forum updated to the progress.
I held it all in place with steel pins and soldered it all in one go. It worked with great success.
Here is a photo of where I am with it so far:...
Here are some pics of a ring I was asked to make for someone. It is going to be a very large ring. It is far from finished and I will post pics as I progress.

I tried it with the steel pins in the soldering block with great success. Thanks for the idea.
"You tube" have loads of tutorials. I learned a lot from watching someone else do it.
