Success!! Got some fire bricks from the local builders merchant. Used these to build a small enclosure on top of a fireproof sheet, layed the bangle almost flat-the seam slightly raised. Added Auflux...
Thanks Dennis but to be honest I was already using easy solder-I thought this would be fine as I was not going to add anything else to the bangle- I guess from what you are saying this is bad...
Thanks to everyone for their help. I've tried heating the whole bangle to stop heat being drawn from the seam - it's a bit like chasing your tail but I will persevere , watch those videos, build me...
