Thanks for the info Dennis, that’s a good price for the whole handset.
I’ve ordered a marathon collet from here, hopefully it fits!
I’ve tested the machine and it’s so much quieter than what I was...
Or this one...

Hi all,
I’ve picked up a secondhand marathon 3 micro motor, it has the larger collet and was wondering if there’s anywhere in the U.K. to get the 2.35 size to fit?
Cookson sell a 2.35 collet but...
Thanks for the reply. Sent you a pm.
Hi all, I’m looking for someone to do cad design and print of earrings and rings ready for casting. Does anyone here have experience with this?
Cheers
Thanks for the info. Hot soapy water worked a treat Dennis, thanks!
Sorry about the picture clarity, they didn’t seem to upload as clear pictures

So I managed to close it in ok.
In the finishing though...I couldn’t seem to get the sides on the prongs, may try some of these silicone wheels.
I’ve never used the silicone wheels before, just mops with various polishing compounds. Do they leave any residue?
I’ve been using a grade 4 knife edge needle to clean it up too.
I made some silver earrings with cheap emeralds first, they came out ok and the size was fine.
Unfortunately I made the absolutely silly mistake of starting to notch the 9ct setting BEFORE dropping...
Oh...that’s a bummer. It should state on the info if there’s a tolerance (like it does for some other things) if that’s the case.
I’d like to learn to make them myself but unfortunately I don’t...
Hi, so I’m attempting my first gold setting with diamonds.
The diamonds I have are exactly 3.5mm so I ordered the 15pt double gallery earring settings from Cookson as it states they can take a...
Brilliant! Thanks, I’ll go have a look...
Hi all, I’m thinking of upgrading to a half decent Jewelers motor.
Currently using a guild motor.
Type of work I do...sandcast gold rings and recently getting into gemstone setting, so claw...
I kind of don’t want to go elsewhere as they’re a good deal. I’ve spoken to them and they’re arranging to exchange the rubbish one so should be all good hopefully
I’m in talks with the seller regards the condition. Like I mentioned...I’ve never brought diamonds before so a little unsure, but I do think from clarity examples online that one of the diamonds is...
Hi I’m making a set of diamond earrings for my partner, they are 3.8mm stones and were sold as si1/si2.
I’ve never brought diamonds before, one of them seems to be right for si (from my research...
Thanks, think I’ll just order these...

Hi, I make 9ct rings as a hobbie but going to have a go at making some earrings for my girlfriend.
I’ve watched a few vids on YouTube and just need some advise on what size tools I need for...
Hi I’m looking for 9ct rose/red gold earring findings but can’t seem to find them anywhere!!!
Does anyone know where I can source some from in the U.K. or eu?
I’d be happy with any type of prong...
Is there anything I could use as a funnel for the small wire ingot? Like cut and shaping a coke can for example
Thanks but even that ingot is too big.
The size that I poured was a 3mm and a 4mm and I managed to mill them quite easily.
Maybe I'll start small like that then work my way up.
So I've tried it again and...it's working for me better now.
I've been using a typical wire ingot but it's so hard to try and pour into the smallest wire hole, some of the gold goes in but most...
Thanks for the advice everyone. I think I'll just cast another ring from this batch and have a go at milling with the next lot of gold I get.
...or look up how to extract the zinc from it.
