Hi Tony and Emma,
Welcome from me too - another member from the 'middle'. Its a friendly place and you'll learn loads from the other talented people here, many of them have been in the jewellery...
That's a really good design idea Caroline; thanks for the tip!
You are welcome Sal.
I can guarantee you never stop learning and this forum has provided me and many others lots of tips and tricks over the years. I cannot contribute as much now, but do look...
Hi Sal and welcome to the forum and good to have another maker here. You'll find loads of useful tips here, but here's a couple to get you started.....
That's a good tip and useful to know. Many thanks for that.
I've pm'd you.
Many thanks for that tip Caro, I'll check them out. xx
Hi Everyone,
I'm looking for a genuine Sievert needle flame burner 3537 and hoping one of you lovely people might have one languishing in a drawer, unused or unwanted??

I had similar issues with supply and ended up with Flogas. The lack of supply is because the merchants are being charged more to service them and their service charges have trippled !
I've just got my Sievert torch and used these people, to get my regulator from. https://www.bes.co.uk/plumbing-supplies/plumbing/ I explained exactly what I had and it all seems to work fine.

Morning Shena,
That's a lovely ring and the accents of gold really set it off beautifully.
Although its only a tiny amount of gold and might be under the 1g weight, I'd always mention it on the...
There are lots of threads on this, but this might be useful https://www.cooksongold.com/forum/showthread.php?t=10920&highlight=torch
I'd recommend the Go system torch mentioned in the thread above...
You know I make them..!
A warm welcome from a very cold blightey. Looking forward to hearing more about your years in the jewellery industry, along with some tips.
Thereabouts in oz are you?
I'm a fan of paste with my chains too Nick, but everything else is strip. I hardly use my flux cone now, its auflux instead. A bit lazy, but its quick and I've got some in a mini spray bottle to...
Great thread and thanks for those tips Nick. I've recently found some solder, where the tape I'd put on had come off and have no idea what type it is, but I can now check it out.
I know there are lots more restrictions since Brexit and have noticed some makers are not selling to particular countries now, as the UK hallmark is not recognised abroad. I know its not what you...
Thanks for the tip Dennis, I'll bear that in mind.
Its so difficult with emails, I'd much rather phone someone and have a chat than send emails back and forth!
Morning everyone,
I'm having a bash at etching copper and silver, using the electro etching method. Some pieces will simply be etched, others I'll stone set.
My questions are : do I solder...
Its a great shame. Then again they might be willing to wait for it to be hallmarked?
Hi Caroline,
I've checked with the Birmingham Assay Office and, they have said "it needs a hallmark, as its being sold from here and the transaction to pay for it happens here, but posted to the...
Those are lovely Sheena! Even more so because they have been set with a hammer and without glue! You must be chuffed to bits with them.
Hi Sheena,
Caroline is right and I had a long discussion with the Assay Office about this a while ago. If the Necklace or the pendant are under weight and the pendant is detachable from the chain...
I remember the discussion Caroline and it was this thread, started by George, that I think you were referring to: https://www.cooksongold.com/forum/showthread.php?t=5907&highlight=saw+blades
