Hi Theresa - I've bought a couple. The first I bought about 3 years ago, it's great and it's still going, so I thought I'd buy another more recently - just in case the first died. When it arrived...
I keep the main pieces in marked ziplock bags and the chopped up bits in marked contact lens cases - as long as I don't have two coils out at any one time to chop up - I'm okay!
I use solder wire and cut it with wire cutters - I've found it a lot easier and quicker to deal with than strips.

I use Elmer's rubber cement - I'm a bit scared of superglue!

Very nice Dennis. I also think the filigree one is my favourite - it's a bit different and very pretty.

Phosphosederite is lavender and opaque - but I don't know it's other properties.

When you say properties of turquoise - what do you mean? Soft? Opaque?

Could you manage with a 35mm steel bar held upright in a vice?
Hello Nick
Have you tried Vaughans - they have loads of different stakes - some under both the tinsmiths and the blacksmiths headings:

I'm afraid I've never used a crucible - I just know that it's hard to get big items up to temperature to solder in the garden!
I'm sure those who know will answer soon!
Sally
I think you might be on the right track with the 'garden and wind'.
Try enclosing your little space with fire bricks to keep the heat in and wind out.

I don't know anywhere that sells Midas oxidising solution - but Kernow craft sell Midas laquer - could possibly be worth asking them if they can get it.
Lovely job Sam!

I have mixed pitches - but it was so long ago I can't remember what they were other than to say that I started with a really stinky, hard black pitch, wanted something a bit softer and now have a...
Wow Peter!
You've made me feel really dirty...

Love the way you've used etched tubes to link the links - looks great.

Well done Eekoh - looking forward to seeing what you come up with for the 'Easter' theme!
