Ah thanks all. I bought it used and I don't think its had any real TLC for quite some time. I pulled everything apart, cleaned in turpentine and will be putting it back together soon with plenty of...
Hm, I'm not sure that it's tarnishing as all my silver is together and only a few sheets are exhibiting the stripes. I'll give them a soak in pickle and see if that makes a difference. Could be that...
Hi all, in the middle of taking my rolling mill apart to clean and hopefully fix it. I see that the brass bearings have grooves worn into them. Should I Polish them out? Keep them there? Does it...
Hi all, I've just noticed what looks like copper banding on some sterling sheet I've received (not from Cooksons). It looks as if maybe the copper and silver did not mix properly and then once the...
I'll take a look if you PM me the link. I live in Canada, but we have a PO box in the US as we live so close to the border ;) With the state of the dollar right now I'll probably pass, but you never...
I like soldering & stone setting. Loathe finishing work (polishing/pre-polishing/sanding). I can go either way in regards to piercing depending on the day!
Interesting solution Dennis! I'll have to file that one away ..
Great as one of those studio "wow" pieces. Very nice.

Its a...
I've had a hammer hand piece on my long list of "eventually"s, but I think its gotten a bump up to the front. Thanks for all your help!! How satisfying to have it (theoretically) figured out ..
Lovely! If she has thick hair I should think the weight wouldn't be an issue? Thinner hair may present a problem though. Very nice :)

Whoops can't seem to edit my last post, but I meant:
"Do you think what I'm looking to do could be achieved by"using the same type of bit", not "using the same type of handpiece"?"
Aha! Searching the internet, I've come across the term lazer/laser finish. I think this is what I'm ultimately looking for (and possibly what several of you have been referencing, I'm just too green...
Hey Sandra, I've interpreted it also as a jump ring that connects two separate parts (instead of the jump ring being soldered to the bail/pendant directly) so if this isn't the case ignore my reply....
Ah yes, thanks for the tip. I tried making one out of an old drill bit, but in my hurry didn't do a proper job so haven't figured out if this is a valid avenue yet. How many digs/hits to the metal do...
Hi all, I'm wondering if anyone familiar with gravers/chisels could give me some insight or suggestions. I'm trying to achieve a textured sparkly pattern on flat/curved metal. I know its possible,...
