Just picked up on your comment that you planned to use undrilled. Won't work. You need them half drilled because the pin is vital for keeping them in place on the setting.
There's one item on my website - I've sold 648 of them. No challenge to make but very popular. I sit and make them in sessions while box-setting of an evening. Of course the really annoying thing is...
It's clearly the fault of customers who only want to buy the same old stuff. Churn it out and take their money - divert a bit to pushing yourself to make new stuff and sell in a new market. Only you...
All the polishing info you will ever need is in Stephen Goldsmith's Polishing and Finishing for Jewellers and Silversmiths. (He's my book big bro' to declare an interest). He also runs masterclasses,...
As an easy option it is possible to buy a ready-made all in one brooch bar. You just solder the base to your work.

Well, we have enhanced our knowledge. They have not. We win
(there is a lot of enquiring and disappearing going on at the moment. Infuriating!)
What is the problem? That you cannot discover the criteria for registering or that your registration is not allowed? I found this from the FT which might start you on a better track...
Me too.. I remember going to Goldsmith's Hall and they looked up WMG in a big parchment type book. And then I got to pick my shape. It's expensive and a pain but..makes a goldsmith unique. You look...
You could 'big up' the hallmark as something very special (Bit on the history and uniqueness of your personal mark etc etc)?
Sounds like your customer means you need to have everything in writing for your own sake.
Yes re Hallmark. The contract of sale is made in this country therefore made under UK law.
Remember though, never use one of those pearl clamps to hold a pearl. Dreadful.
You might want to check the Hallmarking Act provisions but I think it is illegal to make any claims yourself on quality of metals. Gold, silver, platinum must be assayed and marked by a proper office...
