That is horrible news. I hope you will stick around all the same though.

A direct impression will be much deeper and sharper than one made from a a putty type mold. You get a better impression if you make a mold from a photopolymer sheet, but it's pretty fiddly.
I sometimes use PMC for prints and after I've fired them and oxidised them I just rub over with a rouge cloth. I generally use the PMC fine silver which is really soft, so that's all that's needed. ...
I'll post here next time I put in an order. It is a sure fire way of guaranteeing a freepost offer two to three days later.
I think you can opt out of the email promotions. Given that precious metals are seldom discounted it could de-clutter one's mailbox :)
that's weird. I have the same thing and drill 2mm holes into 2mm thick sterling all the time and I've never had to tighten all three sides. I assumed that it just tightens the same as with a...
I buy from Betts from time to time. They often have stuff that cookies doesn't carry. I've found them to be good to deal with for the most part. Agree about the website though, it sucks!
Hi Pat,
My Oroflux was luminous yellow when I got it about 5 years ago and is now clear white. It seems to work just fine.
Some really fab entries.
but you could have reallllllly really teeny tiny hands! Or great big ones! :D
I'm weird. I like the less than perfect pins.
I think the biggest problem with the old style PMC was that as fine silver it wears too fast, especially for everyday wear which is what most people want with the fingerprint jewellery. I'm guessing...
Thanks both.
I have my gold now. I've glued it to the silver before cutting the diagonal (in my mock up rolling the copper raised as it was on the silver made the rolling process slightly wonky...
~waves hello~
there are plumbers blowtorches that use the disposable propane/butane mixes which are easily hot enough for that. My local DIY store sells the nozzles for about £16 and the canisters for about £4.
I still get the odd order for PMC (I use PMC3+) and from playing around with it in the past I've found soldering to be almost impossible. There is a reason they sell those embeddable findings for...
really beautifully made. Hope you are as pleased with yourself as the customer is with it.
Well I just did a mock up using copper. I laminated 1mm of copper onto some silver wire and rolled it down to well over 4x its length and the copper is clear and bright. I used various abrasives...
Caroline, do you mean sweat silver solder onto the back of the gold? Because I'm laminating both sides I'm anxious about it all coming apart. Plus there is having to solder the two ends together. ...
Anything like that can be deducted. If you spend £3000 on silver and make items which you sell for £6000 then the £3000 you paid for bullion is tax deductible. You only pay tax on profits, not...
Cheers Dennis
Cookies do 14ct. I was going to order it cut from sheet rather than roll round wire down but I was also planning on passing the final piece through the mill as well.
Good point...
you can buy gold flakes on ebay.
heh, flippin' autocorrect!
If I go .4mm would it be rubbish if I used 14ct? I suppose if I went 9ct I could go for .5mm but I was hoping using a higher carat plus gold solder would keep the...
Cheers Caroline. I have a rare day off to think about this before I get it made. I've missed being here!
I have a bit of a special commission (OK, it's the girl's 21st so not really a commission!). I've been making mobiles strip bangles and got quite good at them now and I want to make one which is...
Katia on here does engraving tuition. She's internationally recognised as being awesome.
