Does anyone have any advice on bringing a lump of Art Clay Copper back to life so I can work with it? I have about a 20g piece which is rock hard despite being stored in a small plastic container.

I love it! Fuchsias are such lovely shapes, and I've often thought they are so suited to be turned into jewellery :-) You've really done it justice! I am yet to try the PMC paste direct onto objects...
These ovens are just for polymer clay, not PMC.
Oh dear...that looks nasty:( I can't offer much advice but very interested to see what other people say. When exactly did the crack appear...before or after you quenched it?
Thanks Dennis! I am yet to tread the streets around the Hatton Gardens vicinity, and have been dying to....you have now given me extra motivation to get myself to London for a dedicated 'jewellery...
Hi Gayle,
I'm a bit of a bookoholic myself:"> but one of my favourites for silver/metal work is Elizabeth Olver's 'Jewellery Making Techniques Book'...it includes over 50 different techniques,...
Sounds like a Bristol get together is on the cards then?! F.x.
Hi again John....if you are a carpenter you probably already know it, but rediscovered this great shop today in Bristol:
Bristol Design Woodworking Tools
They have a mix of new and secondhand...
Hi John,
I had a look into the course. I've heard murmurings about Windmill Hill before, sounds like fun :-) I'll be interested to hear how you get on with it. Sounds like you have a nice...
Hi John, I'm also a Bristol resident so a special welcome from me :) I'd be interested to know which course it is you are doing. I haven't done any courses as yet, but have been bumbling along on my...
I've only used Art Clay, mainly the Slow Dry...and yes I fire it with a torch. I am wondering the opposite of you Helen, can you torch fire PMC or PMC3? Am curious also to know any other...
Spotted this the other day on the ALDI website, presume it's similar to the one Lou is mentioning?

Wow....amazing skills you have!! I don't know whether to get my tools out and keep practising, or lock them away and just give up! ;-) I can't imagine how much all that gold is worth :-O
I'm treating myself to a tumbler very soon, can't wait...and should be easier on the tennis elbow:) Can I ask which tumbler you've bought? Hoping to keep the cost down as usual, but want something...
Hmmm, I must have overlooked this recommendation. I mostly use Slow Dry silver clay, and have always air-dried it, at least for 24 hours, but not encountered any problems as yet! Where did you hear...
Wow, he's amazing! How big is he? And how much clay did you need to do that?! :-O
F.x.
That's quite a hoard for a first posting! Looking good though, I'm sure you'll do well. Agree with Emerald about the cuff style bangle (the last pic you posted) needing neatening....although I love...
Ooh this looks very exciting! I love those mixed clay results, I was just wondering recently if it is possible to 'mix and match' the clays. I presume you have to kiln fire? I've only tried silver...
Thanks for responding Methuselah...I've had a look at your suggested links. Reagent seems like the best bet, although the courier service seems pretty pricey :(
Doesn't seem to be an awful lot of...
I've become a torch-firing convert for smaller pieces....and have also had better luck with silver. Most of the copper tests I've done have produced a lot of cracks in the enamel. I heard the same...
You need something along the lines of these apparently:
Safety Glasses
I am yet to buy proper glasses, but as soon as I have the spare cash I think my eyes deserve decent protection #-o
Thanks Wendy :) Yes, I made some cardboard templates for the leaf shapes, then used real ivy leaves to press the vein textures onto them, worked better than I thought it would!
I must be daring...
Hi,
I'm desperately trying to get hold of a small amount of either Nitric Acid, or Ferric Nitrate so I can try etching some silver. Can anyone suggest a UK supplier? Someone's suggested MegaUK,...
I can see everyone's point about kiln firing vs. torch firing. I have, however, started to feel more confident with my copper clay pieces. I've been firing things for a second time, and increased the...
Thanks George....yes I quickly realised my spelling mistake :">
Interested to give this a go, as I have some sheet silver, but sometimes just stare at it, too scared to waste it as I am still...
