I like both, they have a classy Art Deco look to them :)
What a fantastic standard and variety of entries! I'm so glad I'm too busy studying to enter, still finishing some chasing and repousse that was supposed to be for the holiday theme....maybe it will...
I also think it's a great idea, go for it! I've been to a few steam rallies and never seen handmade things like you're planning to sell, I'd imagine they would be very popular. Look forward to seeing...
I think you have an obvious talent for engraving, it's not an easy skill to pick up, and I'm sure there is a market that will appreciate one off hand engraved works so don't get disheartened :) You...
Great entries again this month, love your seascape pendant Sandra! :)
Thoroughly enjoyed watching those, amazing craftsmanship, thanks for posting :)
The different shaped mandrels are also quite useful for wire working to get a good even shape.
I like the kneeling posture stools as I have a habit of slumping when I'm working on very detailed things. I use one at my drawing board, and am trying to see if I can get a table the right height so...
Just wanted to add, before you go buying a Dremel, research your alternatives first. They are okay for just knocking about to start with, but they aren't very controllable due to the speed settings....
I have this. You need to attach it to one of the Dremel drills to power it, I have the 3000. It fits on by slotting over a hex nut screwed to where the chuck would go on the drill. I think the hex...
I think it's quite cool, if you hadn't said it was a tooth from that picture I wouldn't know. I'm currently having lots of dental treatment and may lose one of my back molars, maybe if I do I should...
If you're selling work directly and in galleries (or elsewhere for that matter) it's considered professional and good etiquette to have only one price on the work no matter where it is purchased....
It's a bit of a can of worms isn't it? I'd agree about not saying things out of sour grapes, however I do think there should always be debate, opinion and critique, because it's good for growth....
Really nice work again :) I can't advise on pricing, only to say don't undersell yourself, proper hand engraved items are scarce.
I didn't want to say the name as I wasn't saying anything particularly nice about them and I wasn't sure about advertising* and what not on here :)
Husband and I did glance in the aforementioned...
I know, it is madness because I'd much rather have a special bespoke piece that I could cherish than something everyone else has. I was astonished to find a P shop in King's Lynn when I went to the...
I also remember Gerald Ratner. I can't help feeling a bit sad that we are losing true artisan skills like hand engraving as a lot of people prefer to buy something such as was on offer in Ratners,...
I love these! Calorie free biscuits are definitely a big hit with me! :D
Great job! I have a new appreciation of the skill involved in hand engraving as I'm trying it myself and it's currently exceeding my frustration tolerance!
Yes I'd be most interested how it goes too. I have a Dremel 3000 and flex shaft, and really struggle to get decent results with it as the slowest speed setting seems too fast for a lot of things....
Having thought about this for the past couple of days I'm convinced a lot of my perception of wrong in my own work comes from school, I was punished quite heavily for thinking outside the box,...
I'm interested in people's opinions on this. So many times I've seen quotes along the lines of: "there's no wrong in creativity" to which I've always felt yes there is, there's bad design and bad...
I use something similar, I call it "the beast" since it has the capacity to blow solder clean off the piece you're working on, never to be seen again! It was free so I wasn't about to say no to it,...
Lovely! I have total admiration for anyone with the patience required to make chains :)
