I've alloyed my own bronze and shibuichi so far; haven't made shakudo yet. Other than making sure there's a decent covering of flux (usually borax/charcoal powder) over the metals, starting with the highest MP and making sure there's enough of a superheat before pouring, they really haven't been problematic.
Not quite alloying specific colours & carats, but related. There's been quite a lot of discussion on the subject on Ganoksin over the years.
