Flex shaft with hanging motor or bench griinder with flex shaft?

Sorry if this is a really stupid question but can anyone tell me if this bench grinder with flex shaft http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/BRAND-NEW...item20cde4e2f2 will do the same thing as this flexshaft with hanging motor kit and handpiece? http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Flex-shaf...item53e748b5f0

They both have a rotary hand piece and I just really want it for polishing and a bit of drilling of sterling silver and gold pieces.

I'm guessing with the bench grinder I will be able to buy some polishing wheels to put in where the grinding wheels are and polish some pieces like that?? And I assume that the hand piece thats in the bench grinder set can be used to polish and drill?

Ahh sorry I dont even really know what other qeustions I need to ask. Just if anyone can help me. I don't need anything expensive like foredom or do you think i shoudl invest in a foredom flexshaft system? Argh so confusing!

Judging by the ebay link I am assuming that you are based in Australia. If so check out this flex drill; http://www.gemcuts.com.au/prod467.htm at $132 it looks like it would suit your purposes at a reasonable price. I wouldn't bother with the tiny grinder, if you want to go this route get a standard size grinder with a flex shaft. The Flex drill you show the link to on ebay is from the USA and with the postage will be much dearer than the one on the link I show. This is assuming that you are in Aus.

My 2 concerns on the bench grinder are a) there's no foot pedal, so you don't have the hands-free operation you get with a pendant motor or micromotor and b) if the flexshaft is running it looks like the stones are spinning too? With the second concern, I'd veto it on safety grounds.

Something you can start & run while holding both the work & the tool is far, far more preferable than having to switch the thing on, then pick up the tool & workpiece.
