pitch and Sievert burners

Taking advantage of Cookson's free postage I bought a pitch bowl and 1 kg of chasers' pitch but it doesn't seem enough .Will that quantity be enough to fill to the brim? I emailed them ("we will reply within one hour") last night and am still waiting.I also bought a large burner to heat 1/2 " x 5" silver steel rod to red heat but it doesn't fit my torch. This is the second one I've bought this week!!! Do I need a new head (not personally) or is there a way to match model numbers.My torch is 20 plus years old.
Any help most gratefully received.

If there's any possibility, at least half-fill your bowl with (molten) lead before adding the pitch. It'll make it more stable for one thing, but it'll reduce the amount of pitch in the bowl.

As for the torch... No idea, I'm afraid; mine's probably a similar age and I wasn't aware of a change to the threads. You have got the washer too, I take it?

Great.Thanks for that tip Peter. I'm not aware of a washer although I'm not sure that's the problem .The diameter of the replacement burners is just far larger than that which connects the fine tip I have at present.

I think that's it Peter. I need a new neck tube. I thought it would be one size fits all.I can't see a number on mine(?) but it takes a 3537 burner for finer work.Is the 2942 the one I would need for annealing as I mentioned earlier or is that too much? The 2943 I guess is almost the same as my 2942? Do you need separate handles?

From Hamilton - "Now supplied in two parts: SV3501 neck tube and SV8842" so... Yup, additional neck tube. Or an additional handle too if you felt the need. 3501 fits all the Lightline burners AFAIR; 3940 or 3941 are more normal for annealing - it's just that some of us are a bit inclined to go the "more power" route and want something capable of annealing 500x500 sheets (or redoing a roof, since that's what the 294x burners are intended for).

FWIW, the kit that used to be sold by Cooksons was 3941 (I think, as opposed to 3940), 3938, 3511 neck tube and a 3486-type handle (+ reg & tubing). Can't quite see the point of a pilot flame torch myself unless you're doing an awful lot of torch work. I'll double-check my setup tomorrow, unaccountably busy this evening.

Yes! I bought the 3511 neck tube , it took the 2942 burner and created a massive near situation in the dining room!
I'm very happy and sure it will do what I need it for tomorrow.
