There's a Fabergé pendant coming up for sale in June, I wondered whether anyone was interested? Also what do you think it will sell for?

The wife lost her last one on the beach. I'll have to ask her.
I thought that maybe we could have a virtual sweep stake with the winner getting a virtual replica pendant, like the attached photo?Attachment 12483
I'm sorry I only have a black and white printer but if you have a colour printer you could construct your own virtual pendant in colour. I hope this does not infringe any copyright.
I made this egg pendant for my sister ten years ago.

Lovely piece of work James.
How did you construct the egg? Was it 4 pieces + the jump ring? One more question, was the pattern under the enamel engraved or machine turned. Very nicely done.:Y:
Alistair,
The egg was two halves with the hand carved central bezel holding them together and a top mount to hold the jump ring, the pattern under the enamel was machine cut, it's called engine turning. I have made a few similar egg pendants in my time.

All great pieces James, I think the enamelled components in the chain work really well with the pendants. I'm familiar with engine turning, one of the first jobs I had was to make the engine turned dunhill lighters. There was an in house engine turner. I love the patterns especially under enamel.
I will have a wild guess 10-15, 000 GBP
My estimate is £5,500 GBP
I assume that this pendant has been tested by an expert to verify that it is genuine Faberge, in my time I have seen many fake Faberge pieces, looking at the photo of this pendant I would doubt it's authenticity, it lacks the delicacy of the Faberge craftsmen and as for the Faberge marks, I am assuming that they are only on the jump ring and that of course could have been added to the egg pendant and may be the only genuine part of the piece.
Just my opinion and thoughts.

A very good point James. The auction site does not mention Fabergé just the workmaster August Holmstrom. It's listed as a Russian egg. So I suppose that lets them off the hook. It's the magazine article that suggest it's Fabergé. The auction site does list some other provenance but the problem of the mark and jump ring is still valid weather Fabergé or not.

My guess is only for genuine Faberge, one similar sold last year in Sydney, for $21,190 AUD
Nick, one of my egg pendants was worn by this princess in the past.

Wow James, that really is very special.
Well that is a great claim to be able to make, you must be proud
For anyone interested it sold for 40,000kr around £3422.96
I imagine the seller was not too pleased with the outcome, but as James said it's not not as delicate as one might expect from Fabergé, which makes it less attractive and casts doubt on the provenance. Dennis.
