spinner ring
Having seen spinner rings on last week's All That Glitters I have a few ideas bobbing around in my head. What do y'all recommend as the best way to keep the spinny bits in place
Soldered on lip?
bevelled out with a big ball thingy?
durston flared cones device?
Something else?
Thanks!

I've usually just flared the things with a couple of biggish dapping punches. Soldered rails when needed.

The first two methods will work, Wendy:
1. Have the base ring a little wide to provide a ledge for solder. Slip on retainer rings made from round, D-shaped or square wire, and solder sparingly from the outer edges. Then file back.
2. Instead of retainer rings, spread the outer edges a little with steel doming punches. It will be a different look.
But then I guess you knew all this already. Dennis.

Thanks both of you. I watched 'glitters' - it's like an ideas generator and instruction video - but wondered which was anyone's preferred method.

I have just made one it was made with sheet and square wire to fit inside an existing ring. I bent everything up and soldered the ends of the liner up inside the ring. The hard bit was keeping all the clearances tight but still having it move. took me a few tries.
