Spring is here, and we haven’t been caught in a tsunami, an earth quake, or a nuclear disaster .
The cactus is for inspiration. How about a pendant, or some earrings like this? Happy Easter break, Dennis.

beautiful cactus flower Dennis, I'm doing a bit of glass fusing, which probably isn't the way you expected viewers to go but your flower would be perfect for what i have in mind. Well, that's if my prototype in the kiln turns out ok.
I was thinking 'daisy' until i saw your post, so thank you for the inspiration.
I'll be back !
Jill
Hmm lovely! Many ideas!!! I am cutting out a flower pattern at the moment but not a cactus!
And a very Happy Easter to you too Dennis :)
Lovely Dennis, the flowers in some sort of cluster springs (no pun intended, sorry) to my minds eye....might we see some creative results from you by the end of the weekend??
It's a world tie pin for me over the Bank Holiday, some fine piercing of continents if what I have in mind works!!
Happy Easter everyone!

Sorry no Jill, it will just have to join the queue.
My garden is so full of flowers right now and they are always a source of inspiration. I made this in the last few days, it is a periwinkle with a little freshwater pearl in the centre. However I did not give much thought to how it would be used once made and indeed the back makes it rather awkward as a pendant as it does not hang correctly in as much as it wants to be pointing down. Still I will at some point find a use for it.

Wishing you all a happy easter and may the big bunny treat you well.
Well Dennis, I have never made a cactus flower, there's food for thought!
I thought you might like to see one of my more elaborate uses of flowers, this is the central 16 inch diameter bowl which was part of a set with six other 8 inch diameter bowls.

Lovely pendant and bowl!
My little dog is a Princess and she would love one of those :0)
Just kidding James they are beautiful as always.
Thank you all and thank you James for turning this into a fun thread. What would you serve in those bowls , I wonder? I don't suppose jammy dodgers would pass muster. Dennis.
One of the regrets of my career is that I rarely find out who owns my creations. I have been told that many are in the collections of the Sultans of Brunie and Oman, but I can never be sure which pieces. Some items were sold as palace decoration such as this set of bowls. It was mentioned to me that this set was for holding arromatic pot pourri type items adding to the appeal of the flowers.
As you may gather I do like making flowers.
Here is another example of one of my flowers,it was a golden wedding gift.

James,
That rose is absolutely stunning.

Hello Dennis, i just wanted to update you on my progress. I decided to use a faux pate sur pate technique to make a slightly raised cactus flower on a glass cab, all was well when it went into the kiln but not so when it came out. I'll have to try again and re jig firing temps.
Thank you for your update, Jille. I did have a brief affair with PMC when it first came out and saw hours of work melted to a puddle in an iffy kiln, at the college I attended. Hope you soon have it sorted, Dennis.
