Help!! Can I set a Rhodolite in PMC3?

Hello,

I'm making a pendant using PMC3 and wanted to set a Rhodolite in it. Does anyone know if this will stand the heat when torch firing?

Rhodolite is a type of garnet (not to be confused with rhodonite) and will thus survive the heat of firing in PMC. Other stones that will include peridot, ruby and diamond. Having said that, a slow heating is always needed to avoid thermal shock so i would never recommend using a torch but it can be done if you are careful to heat it up very slowly by playing the flame across the piece for gradually increasing time. When cooling down cover the piece with a sheet of insulating material like kaowool or vermiculite to slow down the cooling rate.

I was told NEVER to fire Diamonds, they will burn away. Here is another guide for you Gemstones in Metal Clay

Diamond?? Wouldn't try it for the world. Try zircons instead.
