Sterling Silver Ribbon Crimp Ends/Clamps

Hi,

I am trying to source sterling silver ribbon clamps/end crimps in the UK. I wanted the bar type and not the 'D' shaped ones as I have knitted a silver wire bracelet and it is approx 25mm wide. The 'D' shaped ones would be a bit clumsy looking.

Have just received some of the bar shaped type which were silver plated but the plating came off the bar when I closed the clamps which is really pants. Is there a way to close the clamps without damaging the plating, perhaps?

The only bar shaped ones I can find in sterling silver have to come from China! Surely there is somewhere in the UK that makes these. The alternative is to have a go at making them from scratch or go for the 'D' shaped ones. Any help or suggestions would be so very helpful. Thank you.

Interesting Stirling Silver examples seem to be available every where except the UK, you could try closing with nylon/leather faced pliers, I personally would not use plated items if the rest was Stirling.
