A few recent bits...
Hello all,
Haven't been very active on the forum for months now, shameful I know but as is sometimes the case the 'day job' hasn't left me with a whole lot of spare time to read posts etc. Hoping to remedy this in the next week or so as I miss reading through all the posts on here. Heres a few bits I've made recently however.
Some people may know that I'm a bit of a history fanatic, so the cross and the dragonesque pendant are historically inspired designs, whereas the ring is inlaid with a pebble from a beach in Northumberland. Not everyones taste I know, but I try to make things a little original as best I can!
Cheers,
Nick

Great work, how are you applying the colour I really like it

A similar question re the 'pebble'... have you crushed it down, epoxy and ground it back?
I enjoy a spot of lapidary myself.

Thanks Josef.. still striving to reach your unreal standards however!
Its simple torch fired enamel as I don't have a kiln at present. I applied it using a simple tiny wooden spatula made out of a toothpick, and the dry enamel was placed into the recesses that I'd made. the excess was then carefully brushed off used a tiny soft brush.
The piece was cast in cuttlefish because I think the original was perhaps made this way.

Better photo of the pendant showing the cuttlefish texture. Low tech I know but I really enjoy using the stuff and it was appropriate for this piece.

Yeah pretty much so, and also refined it on a lathe when levelling it out.
