My thinking on this goes something as follows:

1. I'm new to the forum and to silversmithing in general.
2. Although a rolling mill would be fabulous, I couldn't claim to really *need* one just now
3. the above 2 points would mean that it would be pretty unfair if I won it.
4. Life is often unfair……therefore
5. I'll probably win it! Woo hoo!

AlexandraBuckle
29-01-2010, 01:49 PM

5.The winner will be notified in writing by 05.02.2010. The winner's name and county will be available by sending a stamped addressed envelope to: The Competition Secretary, Marketing Department Cookson Precious Metals, 59-83 Vittoria Street. Birmingham B1 3NZ.

Yeah, I was a tad disappointed too, Lise. It's exciting to see who wins on the board; especially if it's somebody who's a long-term part of the community - it's like cheering on your family.

I think it's a bit strange, considering the competitions (or so I thought) were for the purpose of promoting the board.

Which also brings up a point I have made before when the last winner was announced - surely only contributing members should be eligible, anyone can register on a forum and forget about it for evermore. It wouldn't be hard to pull some stats from the database to determine who would be eligible, should this kind of criteria be put in place.

It just seems to me that it would not only make the contributing members happier, it would be more of a useful tool for Cookies too, by encouraging people to take part in the forum, and not just to register and never come back.

Di Sandland
03-02-2010, 12:30 PM
That's a really good point, Lucinda. I know I was a bit miffed that the last rolling mill went to somebody who had never ever posted

agent_44
03-02-2010, 12:34 PM
Me too :(

I wouldn't be so bothered if it weren't for the fact it wasn't going to help Cookies or the forum, seems a little like shooting yourself in the foot!

lorraineflee
03-02-2010, 01:34 PM
I'd really like to know who wins but I'm not about to start sending in letters to find out! A little notice on the forum would please everyone I reckon!

Don't forget this wasn't a forum comp, it was a registering for an account with cookies draw so I suppose it has nothing to do with the forum. I only just remembered!

I think a few of you guys have got confused here as the last win a rolling mill competition wasn't hosted for the forum, it was an incentive to encourage people to register an online account on our website. Existing customers were also allowed to enter. This competition was open to anybody who registered online at Cooksongold.com during the qualifying period, this was not an exclusive forum competition.
