Hey everyone! Quick question about lost wax casting. I’ve done quite a few pieces this way in the past, however I’ve never been able to master carving delicate ring shanks (they always break on me!) So my question is - is it possible to attach a wax bezel to the top of a metal formed shank, which is then cast together?

Now I’ve typed it out I’m thinking it’s a stupid question due to their different melting points. I’ve seen a few other jewellers post pics of what I assume was just that, but I guess they’d then dismantle and only cast the bezel?

This turned into more of a wondering than a question, but if anyone has any tips and tricks to make this process any easier I’d love to hear! Have spent hours whittling only to break a piece at final stretch.

Thank you

Could you cast the bezel then solder it to your shank?

Maybe you could make a mould of the shank you want then inject/pour the wax into that then assemble, I dont think casting onto a metal ring would work
