Another of my present stash of stones from Designer Cabochons, is Indian Paint Stone, from Death Valley in California. It is a kind of soft jasper, with veins of haematite. Since the region was declared a national park, mining is prohibited and the material has acquired a rarity value.

To me it looks more like an exotic hardwood, but I found a taker, so here is the set mounted on Argentium Silver.

Stone for Pendant, 36 x 28 mm
Stone for Ring, 37x 19 mm
Stones for Ear Studs, 10 mm in diameter
Chain, 2.00mm Argentium Triple Rope from Fire Mountain. 40cm, adjusting to 45cm Dennis.

Nice job, from the pics the stone has some similarities to Boulder Opal

Lovely pieces Dennis, what an interesting stone - very tactile looking.

Thank you, Bob and Sue.
Yes, it is rather like the matrix of boulder opals, complete with the iron.
I have the opportunity to see them in use form time to time and catch the wearer, run their fingers over the stone.

Dennis they are lovely and they are very interesting stones.. I am a huge fan of your work and enjoy the little extra touches, like the drop (not sure of the right name) at the back of the necklace?
