I just thought I'd post a link to my latest blog post - thought you might like to see my latest ring made from a sterling silver teaspoon.

That's a fantastic statement ring, it's really original and just the sort of thing I would buy for myself.

I remember cutlery jewellery was very popular in the 1970's particularly the spoon rings and fork pendants. Can't keep a good idea down! :o)

Thanks for all the comments - I've been wearing it all the time and it's a lot neavier than the other rings I've made, but it's a really nice weight, if you know what I mean. Even my partner has his eyes on it and he's a strictly no jewellery kind of guy. I'm finding it really difficult to get hold of silver cutlery though - the antique shops in Edinburgh hardly ever have silver cutlery and instead have silver plate or EPNS stuff - not that many anitque places in Fife where I live. Been looking on eBay but it's hard to trust what you're getting without being able to handle it before purchasing.

Any suggestions? I've already tried the 'mother in law' and she doesn't have any.

there are auction houses in Edinburgh - not sure where and wouldn't have a clue on what to do at an auction.

well you just go along and put your hand up if there is something you want or leave a commission bid it is quite nerve racking to begin with but it soon to becomes addictive lol

That's fab. There's a guy at Covent Garden who does cutlery jewellery and he has boxes of the stuff that he makes up while you wait so it must be possible to get it.
