I’ve been reading through the threads for safety pickle using a slow cooker or a coffee maker. I was going to buy a cheap slow cooker but as they are slow to heat up I’m quite interested in the coffee maker idea, how long are people putting their bits in for? Thanks [emoji3]

I just sit a pyrex dish on the hotplate on mine :)

If you buy a slow cooker with multi settings it only takes about 10mins to heat up on the high setting and then just turn it down. It just needs to be warm and not on the boil

There's no point in hanging about, so I have my solution as strong as possible and most things are pickled in 1½-2 minutes.

If the solution evaporates, it can be made up with hot water from time to time.

You might also note that if you are going to continue to solder other parts of your piece and have fluxed them at the outset, there is no need to pickle in-between. Dennis.
