I would love to go on a stone setting course, could anyone recommend a really good course /tutor, I would rather not travel too far ( I live in Derbyshire) so I would be looking at a couple of hours in the car maximum.

Thanks

Lisa

Actually now that you mention it, I wouldn't mind going on one as well. I live in Nottingham so hopefully we could find somewhere suitable for us both to go, although I may have to go by train as my car is not up to journeys of more than a couple of miles. :(

"In the Studio (http://www.inthestudio.co.uk/main/courses.html)" do stone setting courses, the tutors very good (from other students) and I intend to go on one (eventually)

I sooo want to go on a number of their courses! Trying to save for some, but it's slow going. :(

It was a two day intro to Jewellery Making at "In the Studio" that got me hooked, I haven't been back only because it is quite expensive, but it was an excellent so maybe I need to rethink and ask OH if I could have a course for my Christmas pressie ( do you remember when you used to ask for shoes and handbags? )

There's a discounted course on with H J Walsh £100 saving but it's down south...and on the 24th & 25th Sept (next week).
Details can be found on their main website (http://www.hswalsh.com/default.aspx)

I've taken a look at course literature for the "in the studio" stone setting course, but I just can't justify the cost for a 4 or 5 day course it describes ( £400-£500) and unfortunately I'm booked up next weekend so I can't go to Walsh's, but thanks Nic.
I thought that there would definitely be some in Birmingham,The Jewellery School has summer classes through out the holidays, but they are finished now until next year, Dragon..I'll keep looking and let you know if I find anything that we could go on before that.
