Can you help me find a video someone posted?

Argh searched and searched....it was a video on a type of bezel setting but for a faceted stone. It was like a peekaboo bezel setting where the jeweller carved a notch into the thick bezel and kind of snapped the stone in.

I've got my mind set on trying my hand but wanted to give it another look before I tried.

The jeweller used a heart burr to carve out the notch.

Can anyone remember it? I've searched high and low on youtube and here but I don't know if it has a specific name for the technique.

Maybe you are thinking of tube setting, or flush setting, like these:

The consensus is that the clicking trick is only suitable for very hard stones and is generally unnecessary. Just remember that stones are not closely calibrated and you will have to select one to fit your prepared seat. If it fits well and wont fall out when turned upside down, then you are on the way.

Callipers and magnification are advisable. Dennis.

That is not a standard setting, but almost certainly a stone pushed in from behind and set with spurs raised with a scorper. Alternatively a supporting ring was inserted from behind and set.

The advantage if this approach is that the bezel can be much stouter, and finished completely before setting.

The giveaway is the groove below the stone, to make room for its insertion. Dennis.
