Hi everyone,

Was hoping you can help. I'm starting out in the jewellery trade and need to source small batches of identically sized semi precious stones for my designs.

Can anyone recommend good and relatively cheap suppliers of gemstones in the UK and Europe for this?

thanks!

Check out Manchester Minerals, they usually have a good stock and give good service, see;https://www.manchesterminerals.co.uk/

Actually there is no such thing as identically sized cut gemstones. They all vary in size by small amounts. However you can ask for them to be rechecked to get nearer to your ideal, for instance to fit ready made settings.

The same goes for the colour, according to which part of the crystal the stone was taken from. For instance green tourmaline can be almost black, or have a brown cast. Then there are inclusions......

Finally gemstones are no longer cheap and you might need to shop around.

The most professional company for me is AE Ward: http://www.aewgems.co.uk/ Dennis.

You can asked for calibrated stones but you will pay more for them.

Hi Josef, yes I know they're more expensive, calibrated ones. Can you recommend any companies that you know of?

thanks in advance...
