Apologies for asking this question which has been covered many times here - but can someone help ?

If I make something in 925 silver which is under 7.78 g can I describe this as being made from 925 silver without a hallmark ? and can I advertise this item for sale in the uk without a hallmark ? this item is a component for a handmade pen which is made in ebonite (hard rubber).

Thanks Jake

Yes you may, but you are still responsible for the accuracy of your description. Dennis.

Thanks Dennis - do you mean that I could be asked to show a receipt for the silver ?

No, that would prove nothing.
But if someone thought for whatever reason, that it was not silver, as sometimes happens, they could have it assayed and if proved right, get you for misrepresentation. Dennis.
