Size of Jump Ring

I've a simple bracelet, solid diamond shape (3.5g) with jump ring either end then attached to a trace chain. The chain is close linked, looks delicate but is not flimsy. Problem? Originally used 0.6mm (0.6x4.0)jump rings on the diamond to go through the chain. But one jump ring bent and broke after wearing sample. I was looking at going up to 0.8mm jump ring but can't get a chain I like that goes through the links comfortably.

Should I go with 0.7mm jump ring (this does go through the chain) or change the chain, which fits in with other pieces in this my first collection?

Hi Pink,

Without a closer look, it is difficult to advise you, but in general terms, jump rings which are not to be soldered will be more reliable if you make them yourself out of hard drawn wire and also become stronger the smaller they are: so use the smallest thickest jump ring you can.

Of course, they are much stronger if soldered shut and can be soldered to a chain instead of threaded through. Dennis.
