Hello, experts! So i love the look of rustic, unpolished jewellery.

I have started dabbling in bezel settings (oh my, much more difficult to get perfect than I thought) and I want to create some textures similar to these designers with that "melted" look. Are these cast, do you think?

No knowing, but the effect, much sought after by some, but carefully avoided by others is achieved by using extra heavy bezel and claw material and closing it roughly. In the hands of a beginner, some round nosed pliers used as a bezel closer would do it quite well.

However as with all random effects it still needs skill and practice, so working at it in copper would be advisable. Dennis.

Thank you, Dennis. I'll give it a go with some round nose pliers!

I have found that if you melt some fine silver into a blob, solder to piece, and then drill out to fit your stone you can also achieve the 'rough' look. As fine silver silver is nice and soft you can do a lot to it.
