Hi all
I did a search on this however it seems just about every post ever posted on the Forum contains the word solder or pick!
I want to know what type of solder pick is generally preferred by those who have more experience and knowledge than myself by that I mean what material i.e.
Tungsten, Titanium, Steel etc.
I am not happy with any of the commercial ones I have come across so I will make my own ( will have all the required items in the shed)

I use a titanium solder pick when needed. I made my pick by adapting one of my KC soldering clamp strips.

Hi all
I am not happy with any of the commercial ones I have come across so I will make my own ( will have all the required items in the shed)

I also made my own: wooden handle ~6mm diam, titanium pick and brass heat shield.

If anyone wants one I made 3 spare, at small cost; pm to enquire.

As these are hand made, dimensions are approximate but generally accurate!

Cheap and easy to make something from a tig tungsten welding electrode (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TIG-Welding-Tungsten-Electrodes-Pure-WP-Green-1-6mm-x-150mm-10PK-/111352074106?hash=item19ed19cf7a:g:KRUAAOSw3xJVX~M G) if you have one, poke it in some sort of handle. I use the 10mm one here (https://www.cousinsuk.com/product/straight), or something like this (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2X-Double-Ended-Pin-Drill-Vice-Vise-Model-Jewellery-Making-Repairs-Engineering-/201546767152?hash=item2eed1f9b30:g:XjcAAOxyNThTdfW 3)

Cripes, I must be undercharging.

I don't know how much you charge.
The wooden handle ones cost about £1.40 to make.
A box of 10 electrodes will make 20 picks.
I reckon some people who can't be faffed to make one would pay a fiver.
Cookson want twice that :)

I'm asking £2.80 inc 2nd class post (not signed) for anyone with over 50 posts on this site.

2 left.

Depending on any comments received, I might make some more that will be for sale elsewhere for a little more.
