I'm a linkedin member and I got a free trial for linda.com - There are tons of classes for jewelry selling, jewelry making or jewelry photographing. For me it's hard to believe that online learning with videos makes REALLY sense. Does anyone have experiences with online classes for jewelry making? The idea is nice but is it worth to spend the time starring in the screen?

If you want specialist online video tutorials for silversmithing, I recommend At The Bench with Andrew Berry, well worth the money in my opinion.

I'd not even looked at the selection on Linda.com - nearly binned the email as spam!
It depends upon the subject and your learning style. For some things, I don't think anything other than kinaesthetic learning works - learning by doing, getting muscle memory built up. For others, maybe.
FWIW, I've got a few training videos - more of the Goldsmiths ones now, a couple of Interweave ones on mokume (basic, but good to see other approaches) and a couple of the photography ones.

I agree with Peter, learning by doing and building muscle memory.......always helpful if you have an actual person to help correct and identify errors!!

I use Andrew Berry's At The Bench and find it very good value for money - he does tend to waffle on a bit but when he actually gets down to showing you how to do something he is very clear and explains the process very well.

Even better value if you sign up during one of the offer periods :) The presentation was always vary good, planned out - yes, waffle, but not filler to distract from an unplanned lesson. I confess I didn't renew after trying it for a while as there wasn't really enough coming on line that caught my attention; however that is completely subjective and I'd strongly recommend looking at the (fairly large) selection of topics covered.

I signed up when they offered half price for a year, at about £5 a month I find it excellent value.

I'm always happy to get advice from the pros. I'm not new to jewelry design but I'm only a spare time designer and thus inexperienced!

Being a professional & experienced jewelry designer from India specialized in Indian Gold Jewellery, want to interact. According to me, if you are really serious to pursue your career in the field of jewellery than online courses are a great help.
