If you were making a wedding ring, what would be the thinnest gauge wire you would consider using please? Very dainty possible request (18ct gold)

No less than 1.20 mm thick Lydia, but wedding rings do wear over time paticularly if kept on for rough work such as gardening, so it makes sense to have something quite substantial I think. Regards, Dennis.

thanks Dennis, the lady in question would like me to match a family ring, which is 1.3mm

As a married woman I would say slightly thicker and not too narrow as mine is worn with an eternity ring of the same shape (matching pair) both in 18ct and they are rubbing together and wearing out after 10 years.

Hi Lydia - just measured my wedding band which my mother made nearly 38 years ago and depending on where I measure it varies from 1.10 to 1.18 mm thick and is flat in shape, just under 3.5mm wide. I have no idea how thick it was to begin with, but I have quite small fingers (size I) and if I make a ring for myself then I find 1.2mm a very comfortable thickness.

Thank you - this one is to be round and so 1.3 in diameter.

hi... Lydia, My wedding ring is 1.3 mm thick. i think 1.2 to 1.5 mm thickness is right choice.

gotta go with the flow on this but, given the 18ct nature of the beast, I would opt for 1.3 for stability

I would go for a maximum of 1.8 minimum of 1.3 personally :)
