Thought I would post this here if that's ok couldn't find a jobs section hope it ok to do so. A good opportunity I think for someone.


A third generation manufacturing jeweller, looking for an Workshop Apprentice to join our team in Hale, Cheshire. We design and manufacture diamond and gem set jewellery using state of the art machinery.


We are known locally for our high quality service, repairs and manufactures, as well as our collection of classic and bespoke jewellery.


The role would involve:


Working inside our jewellery workshop
Lost wax casting
Making wax trees
Cleaning up castings
Polishing
The ideal candidate would:


Be confident with learning new techniques
Have a critical eye for detail
Be organised and tidy
Be flexible and happy in a fast-paced workshop environment
Have and interest in jewellery and manufacturing

I'm in M33, less than 3 miles from you. I'm well past the typical apprenticeship age, and have done my time in another craft, but it's heartening to see that business is thriving for you.

I'm pleasantly surprised, actually, that you do your own casting. Another local high street jeweller I know works out a design with his customers then has the ring (etc.) made by a dependable business partner in the Far East and returned to him within a fortnight. He's been doing this for a number of years and it works out quite well for all concerned.
