find and follow milomade - but I don't twitter much just post up when I've updated my blog or shop. Other than that I think twitter is a bit pointless.

Don't worry Su, I don't twitter, I don't facebook, I don't do any other social networking, and I don't blog.

I love forums, for the community feel, but I've never been able to do the whole 'look at me' thing.

I was never a diary keeper either. And I'm rubbish at remembering to even take photos of important stuff.

What are the benefits of Twitter?

As a business tool it's can be used for driving traffic to your web site. As you follow people and people follow you they'll often check out your site or you may update saying you've uploaded a new product and have a link in the message.

It's very informal but you never know how is looking at your stuff or passing it on.

That said I've only been on it a week!

I'm on Twitter - I don't get any traffic from it and I can't believe anybody really follows the rubbish you see on it - in my eyes, pants :N:

Geti - are you still of the same opinion? I'm having a period of maximising the site with SEO, links etc etc. To Tweet or not to Tweet?

Well I've thrown myself right into the technology age and I'm twittering, got to agree with geti tho.... don't really see the point at the moment.

Hi Di, yes I am. Twitter leaves me cold, using it for backlinks is the only benefit as far as I can see, You have to work really hard to build up a following, and as a supposed 'social networking' site it doesn't really work for me and doesn't have anywhere near the following as Facebook.

Most people simply don’t care to know what anyone else is up to!

I use twitter mostly for personal things, as a lot of my friends are on there. I *have* followed back a new polymer clay supplier/enthusiast on there (who I assume found me because I mentioned something I was making at the time). So I think it's handy for suppliers who give a decent ratio of information to advertising/product notifications. And definitely handy to follow people selling things in small or limited edition runs that sell out fast. I can see that it'd be less useful for Geti though - does anyone impulse-buy titanium rings? :D

I've got a facebook but don't use it - too many widgets, not enough text! I want to read about what people are up to, not play virtual assassins :p

LOL, following the initial enthusiasm when I first joined Facebook, I now tend to use it just to play scrabble with my brother and my dad. We're a family of wordaholics and its how we get our kicks ;)

I do have a Moon Cottage page tho, that I update when I update my website and I have made a few sales from that.

As for Twitter, it isn't really me but, had it been useful for business, I might have forced myself ;)

I might be having a rethink - Google has recently done a deal with Twitter to include tweets in their search results so I did a search on google for 'titanium rings twitter' and guess who was at position 3. Not that it is a useful search phrase but I was surprised.

I refer to my earlier post - 3 months on ...still don't see the point but having said that get loads of web hits via twitter , so something must be happening out there ..just can't fathom out what yet.

I've created a page on Twitter at indigobluejewel (http://twitter.com/indigobluejewel) but not alot on it yet. Thought I'd better get something in place for when I'm up and running in the new year. Feel free to follow me and I'll follow you too. I know from other people I've spoken to that it definitely has a "knock on" effect if you're looking to use it as a marketing tool.

You never know - I might start saying stuff that's remotely interesting once I get the hang of it!!! :xmaslaugh:

I'm gonna go for it too - although Twitter scares me half to death ;) Once the holiday season is over my plan is to concentrate on silver and to be more pro-active in marketing myself. Hence the twitter thing. All a bit modern if you ask me ;)
