Hi - I am looking for some steel dapping punches above 24mm in diameter. I don't need another set as I have them all below 24mm.
Have looked on Ebay but only sets there. Cookson have only sets too.Rio Grande a possibility....
Can anyone help please?

Thanks
Theresa

Once you get above 25mm they'll need polishing; welding a shank on wouldn't go amiss either.

And hardening presumably?

For dapping soft metals I wouldn't bother, although you could case harden them if you really needed.

Thank you Peter - had a quick look and they are really cheap!
I only want to lightly flare the ends on a very large (Z3) silver spinner ring, will they serve this purpose ok?

I've just been polishing up a 100mm one from them - welded it to some square tubing as a shank and I've got as far as flap-sanding it. It will be a planishing stake. For flaring spinners - yes, should do nicely.

You could try these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/EXTRA-LARGE-SET-5-DOMING-DAPPING-KIT-45MM-25MM-JEWELLERY-TOOL-/110912375901?pt=UK_Crafts_JewelleryMaking_GL&hash=item19d2e48c5d

The price is wrong on this particular listing - contact the seller for the right one! From memory you just need to remove the first couple of figures... ;)

A z+3 should be just about OK with a 25mm punch though. Otherwise, you could use a wooden punch to finish it off - and the large ones of these are very cheap indeed.

Thanks everyone. Have ordered a selection of balls but I certainly have no experience of welding so will have to find another way of securing them, probably in a dapping block would work.
