Titanium soldering clamps update

A while back I posted tips on making Titanium soldering clamps, as some of our newer forum members may have missed my posting I thought I would post this update.
Here in the UK Tamizan Savill stocks the titanium strips to shape soldering clamps, strips as supplied to her by Knew Concepts in the USA: http://tamizan.co.uk/knew-concept-saws/

Andrew Berry did make a short video showing when he made some clamps from the strips.

They are easy enough to make, I made all mine as James's pattern, sent for the titanium from Tam? they take minutes to make. The most time consuming is cutting out the fork part etc.

I made mine from stainless steel after seeing James's, and they are really great! It was a bit of a pain to cut the strips from the sheet, but well worth the hassle. I have just ordered some titanium strips, which should be a breeze to use since they are already in strips! :)

They are harder to bend though, tougher metal.

I'm new here and its my first post, so I hope this hasn't come up before.....
A good source of stainless steel is a car windscreen wiper. The replacement blades are made of a length of rubber usually held by a split strip of stainless steel. The strips are an ideal shape (1 to 2mm wide x 300+mm long) and are cheap. Remove the rubber from your replaced blades and just cut to length. Geoff
