I've seen some choker lengths as 14-16" long, others at 16" and similar differences.

Could anyone point me in the direction of a definitive sizing list please - thanks.

for me a choker sits high on the necks if your neck was 12" in diameter (I always get customers to measure from kind of where the adam's apple is) then the chocker should be about 12.5". When I ask customers to measure I ask them to do so over crossed fingers which ensures it isn't too tight.

For necklaces I offer chains in 16 and 18 inches. My bangles are small, about 6cm diameter and large about 7.5cm diameter.

Many thanks Medusa. As I'm in the process of setting up a website, do you think its useful to add this sort of info, or would it confuse ....?

I usually do a 16in as standard for a choker Jules, 14 seems very short even for my scrawny neck. I did have to buy a couple of 18in as a standby but it's not the norm for a choker. As Liz said chains are usually 16 or 18 unless you've designed a long necklace. I suppose it's all relative to the design then

Thanks Caroline. I was also thinking of those people who are purchasing gifts, as they might not always know the size they need for their recipient.

16" or 41cm suit most people Jules, but necklines vary, particularly from summer to winter, so I always add a 6cm adjustment chain to allow the item to be worn upto 2cm shorter, or upto 4cm longer. Dennis.

I don't offer chokers, just chains and the choice is 16" or 18". People can usually work it out.

I'm with Carol as I only offer chains in 18",20" and 22". I'm selling quite a few longer chains.

I offer 16", 17" or 18" length chains, purely because my personal preference is 17" as I'm an awkward bugger!

Edit: Bracelets I offer 7", 7.5" and 8" - I have no idea if this is standard or not though.

On a similar note, if you were going to offer rings in standard sizes, say Small, Medium and Large, with specific sizes made to order, what would you pick for your stock sizes? I'm thinking K, N and P, but I have ridiculously spindly alien fingers.

I usually do a 16in as standard for a choker Jules, 14 seems very short even for my scrawny neck. hmmm, I'm not especially thin but my choker is 13" long and that is only because I messed up my measurements. It should be more like 12". Maybe we have different definitions of choker? To me a choker sits around the throat. There is no drape or hang down.

For me a collar sits above the clavicle and a choker on or below (and I'd usually go for about 14" too).

I have a little diagram indicating where a pendant/ chain is required/ likely to sit.....I find that for most people 16" sits on the collar bone, 18" hangs just below, 20" just in to the cleavage, 22" or 24" offer longer (and increasingly desired) pendant lengths!! .......all are dependent on the size/ measurements of the person, that said, though I am taller and slimmer than my mum, she has a smaller necklace size than me to sit at each of these points!!

I usually stock a variety of lengths and supply as standard on either a 16" or 18" chain.

I shall have t check my bracelet/bangle measurements, they're in the workshop!!

OOh many thanks for all your thoughts on sizes everyone. I've made a note of your thoughts and hope to incorporate them into my current choker designs. (I've got quite a few on the go now, but they are all at the nearly ready stage!).
