What are your thoughts on the use of third hand style tools for jewellery making?

A matter of personal preference, but rarely use mine.

Very occasionally use mine. I prefer locking tweezers.

I don't use them either, I prefer other methods of securing items while soldering.

Ok, so now i'm curious. What on earth do you guys use for soldering if you don't use a 3rd hand?? (other than a handy 2nd person).

Well, James' stainless steel clips, binding wire, grooves and holes in the soldering block, artery forceps, tweezers.........

Thank you Josef. This is the only problem with the forum - it encourages me to keep buying tools :-"
