Hello all,

Many apologies, I just posted this to the wrong thread, so I've reposted it here!

I'd like to cast an 18k or 22k gold replica of a fine silver original ring I made a while ago. Does anyone know what percentage heavier than the original it will be? I know that 14k is approx the same as silver, but have no idea about 18k or 22k. 25% heavier? 50% heavier? More!!!??

Thanks very much,

Christina

Not exact maths, but I would say that size for size, 18ct yellow is approx. 50% heavier than silver, and 22ct is approx. 72% heavier than silver.

Yikes! Thank you James : )

I just double checked my calculations by checking the weights of Sheet on Cookson's site. Based on the size of 1 inch x 1 inch x 1mm. thick sheet;
silver sheet weight= 6,7g., 18ct yellow sheet weight= 9.99g. and 22ct yellow sheet weight= 11.48g. so my percentages are quite close.
