Morning all!
I need a Power Hole Punch and this one looks pretty good.

But would like to know if anyone has/or can recommend any other good, reasonably priced Power punches.
Thanks in advance.

That's horribly overpriced.

What are you intending to use it for though?

Thanks for that,...totally forgot about Palmermetals! :)
It's needed for punching holes in thick metal blanks and my little punch that i use for thin gauge blanks can't tackle thick metal.

If it's just holes for bails etc, then you might want to try a screw down punch, which is more accurate and a lot easier to use.

Not familar with those tbh.
I'll have a look though.
Thanks!

George is a wizard with tools. I didn't even know these existed, but they are quite cheap too:

I've got one like this http://www.riogrande.com/Product/Swanstrom-Hole-Punching-Pliers-125mm/111785?Pos=3

I never use it because I find it difficult to line it up properly and the hole always ends up slightly off centre.

That's a shame Carole, I hate these white elephants.

The only holes I actually punch are in leather, so you can make a light trial impression which will fade and correct it if needed.

Hi there, not seen these punches before. Could they be used instead of a disc cutter do you think?

The power punch isn't really an alternative to a disc cutter - it's pretty clumsy to use, and very hard to line up accurately. You can also hurt yourself squeezing as it's quite a jolt when it does cut through. It makes good holes, but the discs are not always in great shape, can be quite deformed with thinner metal gauges, and the sizes are pretty small.

Carole - I didn't get on with the hole punching pliers either and only ever use them where accuracy isn't an issue. Shame, as it seemed such a good idea!

Yes, i agree!
After doing a bit of research on hole punches yesterday, i had a look on Youtube and saw a woman using one.
The gadget not only looked big & cumbersome........but actually looked dangerous! Lol
I went ahead and bought the screw down one you suggested btw. ;)

Nope, that's a riveting tool rather than a punch, and that's the right price. Never quite understood what's wrong with setting rivets the old fashioned way myself...
