Drag Marks on 18ct & Platinum

How can I avoid drag marks when polishing a ring when I have sized it with a piece in"? I sometimes have this problem on platinum & 18ct rings?

How can I avoid drag marks when polishing a ring when I have sized it with a piece in"? I sometimes have this problem on platinum & 18ct rings?

The question is not quite clear, but if you mean how to polish metal to create a smooth finish, then:

1.Make sure there are no marks left from abrasive paper when pre-polishing.
2.Use a separate mop, trimmed of threads, for each compound and wash the work between compounds, or use radial disks.
3.Don't press too hard and keep the work moving methodically to avoid same direction tram lines.

If there is a stone in it cover the stone with a small piece of adhesive tape, or Polymorph and keep your thumb over it for good measure. Dennis.
