Morning people!
ok, so Ive been looking for a good supplier of sweetie bracelets, but I'm struggling to find one that has decent bracelets at decent prices, does anyone know where I can get them from please?
I also thought about making them myself, so I looked into the pricing on cooksons and worked out the following:
7 inch bracelet is approx 198mm, therefore I would require 198 closed jump rings that have a wire diameter of 1mm, the price for 200 7mm rings is £151.52!!! weight 30g (not including delivery charges etc)
It would be actually cheaper to buy the bracelet already made?
I have seen may finger print persons offering these bracelets at around £1509 including a charm and the weight of the bracelet is 52g!
Am i missing something here??

Well as I see it and others might contradict me, the point of being a jewellery maker is to actually make jewellery. If you buy it in and re-sell it you are a jewellery trader. Dennis.

However, just over 4.3m (35g) of 1mm wire (which equates to 198 7mm OD jump rings) is, at today's price, just over £35. This is really making it yourself, rather than assembling components, and there's a big difference in raw material cost.
You need to coil, cut and solder the rings, which will take a little time, and the finished piece will need hallmarking. Most of those I've seen offered are not hallmarked, and cannot be sold legally in the UK.

lol - I had to look it up as the last sweetie bracelet I knew of was made by swizzers and had an elasticated middle. lol. A quick google and I found this:

I make the charms etc, plus leather bracelets and other bracelets, so I do consider it making jewellery, however a few of my customers asked for sweetie bracelets, so I wanted to source/make some for them. Im quite happy to make them, just wondered if I had indeed got my pricing correct ;-)

I purchase one from Palmers and I'll be b*ggered if I can find a hall mark, thats part of the reason why I wanted to make them etc

I quite like the tactile quality of sweetie bracelets even if they are as ubiquitous as oxygen. I must admit I had assumed that the 'sweeties' were hollow, maybe electroformed?

The 'real' ones (Links of London) are solid, but a lot are made using 'bubble' rings, which are hollow and very lightweight. And just as nasty as you'd expect...

meh, well its not like I'd ever buy one (too cheap and too skint), but if they are solid, they must weigh a lot! I have a tiffany cuff which I had to stop wearing 24/7 cause I was getting wrist ache!
