Hi everyone,
I want to make a pin brooch out of sterling silver where the pin points down through the lapel, but I am worried about the sharpness of the pin. Is it ok to leave the pin sticking out or do I need to make/buy a cover?
Thanks :-)

Thanks James, I didn't even know what to look for let alone that Cooksons sold them!

Ideally they would have a very thin safety chain, attaching them to the brooch, or they would be forever dropped or lost. Unfortunately they are filled with a soft plastic to make them grip pins and that means inventing some form of cold connection: perhaps a broad, close fitting jump-ring glued on with epoxy?

I made one recently for a little fox head pin. I just made a 1cm long bezel type affair from 0.3mm sheet then pushed it into a pencil rubber it cut the rubber which stayed stayed in the tube, I too did not know they were available on Cooksons, I do now :0)

What I would do is drill a small hole and thread a jumpring through to fix the chain to.
