Hi.
Apologies if this has been asked previously, I have recently noticed that some of my silver clay is blistering when I fire it, I fire in a kiln.
Has anyone else had this problem?
Thanks
Ann

I don't use metal clay myself, but I believe this can happen if the clay isn't fully dry before firing. I'm sure one of the experts will be along with a more helpful response before too long though!

No, I always ensure that items are thoroughly dry, I'm an Art Clay instructor. It's only recently started happening,
and I just wondered if anyone else had had this problem, and how to rectify it. I have tried different firing temps. and times. sometimes it blisters sometimes not.
Thanks for answering though George.

Not a specialist in this area at all Anne, but the (former) scientist in me would be to look back at all the variables, and try to determine any patterns of regularity. Once you have ironed out your own areas for concern, then look to the product itself. Does it happen within batch. Then turn to your supplier, have they had anyone report the same, possibly within batch. Further than that its all alchemy to me...sorry for not being much of a help...
