First attempts with gold

I am a hobbyist who works in silver but I'm wanting to branch out into gold and I have a silly question:

Can I use the tools I work on silver with for gold? If I use a file say, on silver cani use it on gold or will it 'contaminate' it IYKWIM?

Using the same tools on silver and gold won't effect either. Just remember to clean off your workbench before changing metals and keep the scrap and dust separate.Good luck,

May I just elaborate on what James has said? You might return to your scrap pot for small pieces from time to time, so if you are using different carats, keep these scraps in marked containers too. Dennis.
