View Full Version : Which beading wire is best for avoiding kinks?

Hello all,

I'm about to make a necklace and could do with some advice on which type of beading wire to use. I'm using 6mm diameter, round, jade beads and some larger silver beads, too. (The holes are about 0.6mm in diameter).

The silver beads are larger, and quite angular, so I'm worried that when the necklace flexes, I might get some kinking.

I'd really like to find a wire that doesn't kink too much. Does anyone have something they could recommend, please?

Best wishes,

Nina

Hi Nina,
I'm by no means a stringer, but on the rare occasion when I do so, I always go for a good quality 49 strand wire. I like Flexrite, or Softflex. You'd probably need one of the heavier weights (at least 0.019"). The 49 strand drapes far better than any of the less dense versions.

Thanks, George, that's very helpful. I'll get hold of some and have a try!
