Hi all

Just thought I should introduce myself as I'm new to the forum and pretty much to jewellery making. My name is Joe and I'm from Newcastle. I started silversmithing in September last year (been on and off). Hope to really get into it now, I've bought a few books on silversmithing and wire working and look forward to getting some really useful tips from everyone on the forum.

Welcome Joe, I hope you can find out what you want from this forum, books are great but there is no substitute for watching and learning from a craftsman. I have bought a few good DVDs from the Goldsmith's Company that you might find useful, see; http://www.thegoldsmiths.co.uk/technology-training/industry-training/masterclasses/ they are advertised as for trade only, so call yourself a silversmith when ordering.
If you can master drawing, saw piercing,hand filing,using hammers to shape,making jump rings and such like and finally soldering, then anything is possible.
