Hi
Can anybody tell me how to dilute a 2 litre tub of salts.
I very new to this game of gold plating and any advice or tutorials to help me on my way. I dont need to dilute all the salts do I. Can I re-use once ive used it on plating coins.
Cheers
Ray

Daft question, Ray - is this stuff cyanide-free?

Cant see why its a daft question
The 22k gold salts was bough from Cookson.com.
GILDAURA 5N ELECTROLYTE SALT if this helps.

It's a cautious question ;)

I've just read the COSHH sheet on it (in the knowledgebase) - yes, it is a cyanide one (thought it might be). It's not a compound I feel my working conditions allow at the moment, which is why I'm not doing any electroforming.

The brief description of the item suggests it should all be made up at once; I can come up with a number of suggestions why that should be, but the best bet would be to give Cooksons a ring and get their take on it.

Then you can tell us what they said :D

Everything is hazardous. Just depends how much of it is needed to be dangerous... In the case of knowledge, not much!

I have an old recipe somewhere suggesting the addition of laurel leaves to custard to give a nice almondy flavour - that would be down to the cyanides in the laurel leaves...
